Raising Funds for Cancer Research

Chesapeake Bay Area Charities of Maryland is a non-profit organization created to raise funds for local charities. Founded by the local owners of Outback Steakhouse, CBAC has a particular interest in pediatric cancer treatment and research, and dedicates most efforts to benefit the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. Currently, CBAC is working to fund the Outback Steakhouse Teen Rehabilitation Room and the Outback Steakhouse Cure for Kids Research Endowment at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Events

To raise funds, CBAC organizes a number of events throughout the year. CBAC’s Flagship Sponsor, Outback Steakhouse, cooks and serves food at each event. Annual events include a Sporting Clays Tournament and a Golf Tournament. Each event offers a unique and fun twist to an otherwise classic sporting activity.

CBAC and Outback Steakhouse support the Hospital in other ways as well.  In the Spring, the Canton Outback Steakhouse feeds over 400 nurses during Nurses Appreciation week.   During the summer, the Annapolis restaurant cooks dinner for the children and volunteers of Camp Sunrise (Johns Hopkins summer camp for children treated for cancer).   And all local locations assist with a Holiday Toy Drive, a program that gathers new toys and delivers them directly to the pediatric oncology center at Johns Hopkins Hospital at Christmastime.
