Chesapeake Bay Area Charities of Maryland is a nonprofit organization created to raise funds for local charities. Founded by the local owners of Outback Steakhouse, CBAC has a particular interest in pediatric cancer treatment and research, and dedicates most efforts to benefit the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. Currently, CBAC is working to fund the Outback Steakhouse Teen Rehabilitation Room and the Outback Steakhouse Kids for Cure Research Endowment at Johns Hopkins Hospital. While research and treatment for pediatric cancers remain CBAC’s focus, CBAC also contributes to other charities such as FARA, Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance, and Special Olympics Maryland.
To raise funds CBAC organizes a number of events throughout the year. CBAC’s Flagship Sponsor, Outback Steakhouse, cooks and serves food at each event. This year’s events will include the Annual Clay Classic, and the Annual Golf Tournament. Each event offers a unique and fun twist to otherwise classic sporting activities. CBAC’s efforts are also extended into individual Outback Steakhouse locations with the Holiday Toy Drive, a program that gathers new toys and delivers them directly to the pediatric oncology center at Johns Hopkins Hospital at Christmastime.
